Nerrida Parfitt’s oil paintings explore themes of solitude, impermanence, and the interplay between self and environment. In this exhibition titled 'Pause', she captures brooding landscapes and abandoned spaces, evoking a quiet tension through light, shadow, and profound stillness.

The Corner Store Gallery, in partnership with Seesaw Wines, is delighted to present a vibrant group exhibition to celebrate the Orange Wine Festival. This colourful and diverse showcase features an exciting mix of local talent alongside artists from beyond the region, all coming together at Seesaw Wines for a special event.

This collection of work explores domestic life centred around the dining table that occupies an important place in the artist’s home. A table of interesting dimensions, long and thin, it was made originally to fit a difficult space. It has since moved house twice, and has fitted into each new space as if it were made to be right there.

As the cold season approaches, the table becomes the place to sit in the warmth of Winter sun - to eat, to read, to work, or to talk with friends.

This diorama series is a progression of Jason’s artwork involving montage of his photography and graphic design. Each frame is a blend of two images - the flora and toy models positioned in the landscape in a single shot and then his original photograph of the animal/bird dropped into the set via digital editing.

Dioramas have historically been described as a “means to visually preserve nature as different environments change due to human involvement”. Unlike the antiquated versions which presented taxidermy animals and birds in realistic poses, Jason lets his camera lens capture the live models presenting a spectacle with the aim to “nurture a reverence for nature with its beauty and grandeur”.

Karlie Simring is an artist and designer based in Inner Sydney on Gadigal Land. Holding a Bachelor of Fashion and Textile Design, Karlie has enjoyed a creative career as a Senior and Head designer in the fashion industry for more than 25 years. Her early education also included a year at the National Art School. More recently, Karlie has explored various creative mediums, including watercolour, ceramics, basketry & weaving. Now an emerging artist, she creates contemporary textiles, focusing on surface embroidery. Art and design are Karlie’s guiding passions, with the world of textiles continually inspiring her process. Drawing from her experience in fashion, she infuses her work with a considered sense of colour, form and detail. Karlie’s process is intuitive, as she explores and observes her surroundings. Her art is an interplay of line, texture and tone, creating stories with a deep appreciation for materiality and tactility. Mark making with thread, brings the viewer into her inner world.

Moving from New York back to Australia, I now live as I grew up, on the edge of a National Park. As a remote location, it is this natural environment that fills me with inspiration which I continue to learn about every day. 

Walking the local tracks and being part of the community bush care group I’m in constant awe of our Australian bush and its fragility. The unique vision of our wildflowers and endangered birds are globally understated or recognised and it is something that drives me paint and share. It is that possibility of a new story that moves me.

I see that we are all small parts of a whole. We adapt and are forever evolving, I cannot help but be influenced by situations, people and places around me and this observation makes for an ongoing story.

Through exploring dramatic tonal contrasts and examining the balance between light and shade, Nell Symonds creates dynamic still life portrayals. Composed of assorted potteries, summery lemons and curvaceous pears and pomegranates, her subjects are often selected for their shapely proportions, intrinsic colour variations, luminosity and ability to cast compelling shadows.

Working primarily with soft pastels, Rivers applies scraping and blending techniques to swiftly establish composition and colour arrangement, later refining the works with intricate marks. His experimentation with pastels yields both loose yet finely detailed drawings and paintings.

His latest collection, “Under Sandstone Skies,” invites audiences to immerse themselves in his experience of residing under towering cliffs and open skies, observing the ever shifting interplay of light, colour and distinct weather phenomena. From the glow of a solitary cloud illuminated by the morning sun to the dynamic shadows cast by drifting clouds, Rivers’ work shares his connection to these moments of transient beauty.

Sydney based artist, Zoe Sernack has produced 5 new works for us that reflect forms of nature above and below the surface. Using a soft and delicate colour palette, Zoe not only paints but carves into the timber boards to really capture the flow and pulse of the Australian landscape. Her work explores the connections between landscape, memory and the subconscious. She has an instinctive understanding of colour, line and texture while balancing abstracted forms. Zoes’ objective has never been to depict but to evoke a visual connection. Whether it be a sense of place, a feeling or a memory.

Moving back to the country became the catalyst for Amanda Holman to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time artist.

Inspiration to capture the beauty of the countryside evolved from a childhood in the township of Mudgee NSW, a country town surrounded by hills with everchanging colours, rivers framed by ancient rivergums, and seasonal windswept pastures.

Now living in Orange, Amanda has found the surrounding scenery to be a fuel for the senses. 

Amanda’s pursuit of landscapes that capture the essence of Australia and the Australian light is paramount in her practice.  To create scenes that evoke a sense of connection to the country and a feeling of tranquillity and restfulness is her objective. 

Beyond 4 Walls is a collection of works in which Amanda seeks to portray the awe-inspiring beauty of the country around us.

Andrea is a prolific artist who is represented by various Galleries within Australia and collections worldwide. She creates work that observe the ordinary, but celebrate the beauty within.

Andrea presents us with a collection of work that invites us to emerge from the blur of the last few years and find some clarity in the future. Using the landscape as reference, “Blur” envelopes the viewer in a haze that evokes comfort and hope.

FLORA is a group exhibition curated by Gallery Director Madeline Young to celebrate the arrival of Spring. This collection brings together a fantastic group of unique, colourful botanical artworks of all mediums, shapes and sizes.

These contemporary artists use wonderfully diverse techniques and approach experimentation with mediums and materials and throughout their practices.

Domestic Goddess is a group exhibition curated by Gallery Director Madeline Young, bringing together the work of some of Australia’s most exciting, contemporary female artists. Each artist creates vibrant, lively, colourful Still Life and Interior works celebrating the domestic environment. This exhibition is a visual, “tongue in cheek” take on the modern Australian woman’s role in the household.

Hankering for a road trip during recent periods of isolation and lockdown, Andrea has created a series of paintings that explore the natural environment and invite the viewer to pause and reflect.

The series of roadside views, symbolise a path forward, a journey ahead, the optimism in “heading out” and the anticipation of returning home.

Throughout a long career of teaching Art in Secondary Schools, Andrea has maintained her own Arts practice from her art studio/gallery in Berwick. Andrea holds weekly classes and workshops and creates works using a wide range of mediums, including; clay, wire, pastel, oil and acrylic.

January 19th to 26th, 10am-4pm every day.

Rogue Sculptors was incorporated in 2007, comprising a number of Central Western NSW artists whose primary creative focus is SCULPTURE.

We have enjoyed exhibiting annually over the past decade and while there has been a temporary hiatus to exhibitions, we are excited to present our newest works in this small sculpture exhibition in January 2022.

The Corner Store Gallery is celebrating our 6th anniversary this August with a Group Exhibition of new work exploring the notion on HOME in the time of Coronavirus lockdowns.

What a strange and unsettling year 2020 has been. Our world was turned upside down due to the Coronavirus epidemic and many of us have experience the most difficult few months of our lives. With forced lockdowns, quarantine and isolation rules, many of us have been spending a lot of time at home. Home means something different to everyone, and we’d like to hear your stories.

This exhibition will be held in two locations: GOST, Canberra and The Corner Store Gallery in Orange. The Directors of both galleries have curated a group exhibition of their local artists to send to the other gallery. This opportunity allows artists to engage with new audiences and vice versa for audiences to see new artists.

To give you all something to look forward to we have 2 more group exhibitions launching this month ONLINE ONLY. The first is our Locals Only group exhibition launching Thursday April 2nd at 8pm via our website. Initially curated to celebrate our region's talent during Orange F.O.O.D. Week, we've gathered some Corner Store Gallery alumni to showcase this April.

Four artists explore the beauty and mystery of trees through photography and paint. Each creates their own narrative by looking at silhouettes and patterns, light and shade, and the intrinsic nature of our arboreal relationships.

Into the Wilder, an immersive exhibition by artist Colleen Southwell, takes a celebratory ramble on the wild side. Step by step, the wild underfoot is pondered, and its story told through a trail of delicate and whimsical paper sculpture.

Tread lightly, look closely, as you step Into the Wilder.

Sketches are a tool for capturing ideas, observations and feelings both real and imagined. As quickly as the hand can draw and the mind can hold the image. Sketches are often considered the beginning of something more. 

In FINAL SKETCHES artists and friends, Sonny and Simon, present sketches as final work, offering a glimpse into their inner worlds. The punchline is obvious or hidden. 

Madeline Young’s abstract compositions are inspired by the unique beauty of the Australian bush; the way dappled sunlight filters through the canopy, casting long rays of light and shadow and the distinctive blue-green of Eucalyptus leaves filling the air with their familiar scent. Madeline simplifies and exaggerates the shapes she finds in nature and uses blocks of colour to create works that, like the Australian bush, are simultaneously vibrant and serene.

Jan, Rita and Genevieve crossed paths over the years through French classes, University and TAFE connections. Their journeys recently intersected again through art and they revelled in discovering their shared passion for interpreting the beauty of nature through colour, light, stillness and movement. In this exhibition, they bring together a rich array of techniques and forms as they recount moments from their travels and experiences in their individual and unique styles.

Yan, Tan, Tethera is a joint exhibition from Hannah Orrock and Maria Shaw which explores the symbolism of animals in dreams. In this exhibition we look to develop a playful dialog between the observed (the animals captured within the dream) and the observer (audience).

Our annual 8x10 Group Exhibition is back for a 3rd year and what a fabulous selection of mini artworks we have for you!  79 artworks have made their way to the gallery from all over Australia with local artists representing a large percentage of the selected work.  We have all sorts of styles, subjects and mediums; painting, drawing, photography, encaustic, mixed media and 3D pieces, all measuring 8x10 inches.

Canberra based artist Emilie Patteson returns to her hometown of Orange, NSW, to bring to you her latest work in glass and illustration. 
"From Little Things" explores life cycles by examining tiny elements of nature: leaves, stamens, seeds. 
Emilie will be working within the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. 

My love of the Australian rural landscape and all things bovine continues to grow. I love nothing more than to stand among my beauties and appreciate their different noses, ears, eyes and hair do’s - yes cows have their own, unique little tufts just between their ears.
I initially painted cows in a naive style and included their surroundings. As my work progressed and my love of cows grew I wanted to better express each individual cows personality. I decided to make them into pure portraits.  I want the viewer to question if they are a photograph or painting.

Orange Moss is a mixture of hand-embroidered one-off pieces and comfortable ready-to-wear offerings, we hope to inspire confidence in all who wear our range. The source photography will be from Orange and the surrounding areas. All items are printed and manufactured in Australia in partnership with a variety of ethical producers and makers
