In this new series, From Blackened Earth, Ana returns her attention to the Australian landscape in the wake of fire. This body of work is a meditation on transformation - how destruction gives way to renewal finding balance through contrast. Inspired by walking through bushland scarred by fire, Ana is struck by the vivid interplay of charred earth and new growth. Deep blacks, ashen greys, and burnt ochre sit beside flashes of green, soft pinks and bold oranges, forming a visual language that speaks of loss, survival and beauty. Through layered texture and gestural brush work, her work evokes both the drama and the quiet of the post fire landscape. Each painting is both a tribute to nature’s cycles and a reminder of our connection to a living environment that endures and evolves.

Ana Anderson is a contemporary Australian artist, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (2007) Honours from the National Art School. Ana’s work focuses on the Australian landscape and our connection to nature, exploring the line between reality and abstraction.
In this body of work Ana represents the places of solace that she often retreats to, they are the quiet spaces where she finds connection to something larger, where she can escape and just breathe, they are the spaces between the trees. These compositions were created with multiple layers, tuning into the works in a push and pull intuitive process, creating a balance between reality and abstraction.
